Consumers are increasingly flocking to restaurants for weekend breakfast, lunch, and brunch, with a particular inclination towards full-service establishments. Britany Robinson, a senior manager of consumer research at Technomic, pointed out that the weekend share of dining activities saw the most significant growth in the breakfast segment. However, this shift in consumer behavior is not limited to breakfast alone, as all dayparts experience similar increases in weekend dining preferences.
One key aspect driving consumers towards weekend dining is the time pressure experienced throughout the week. Robinson emphasized that consumers are likely seeking relaxation and quality dining experiences during weekends as a means to unwind and enjoy leisure time, away from the weekday rush. This desire for a break from the hustle of the workweek propels individuals to opt for on-premise dining during weekends, indicating a shift in priorities and preferences.
